New York magazine reports that Jennifer Lopez will be the host and musical guest for the February 27 episode. The following week, Zach Galifianakis will host. Musical guest forthcoming.
In a effort to launch its new Thursday night comedy lineup, NBC will re-team Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers at the Weekend Update desk when Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday premieres on September 17.
Really?! Yes, really.
Weekend Update will lead into the second season premiere of Parks and Recreation, followed by The Office and Community, with Joel McHale and Chevy Chase.
Amy will also co-anchor SNLWUT the following Thursday (September 24). No word yet on whether she’ll continue co-anchoring the show after September 24.

MTV is developing a new television show — The Awesomes — from SNL head writer Seth Meyers and fellow SNL-er Mike Shoemaker.
The show is best described as a 30-minute comedy that “follows an unassuming superhero and his cohorts as they battle evil villains, the paparazzi, and a less than desirable reputation as bumbling losers.”
Both Meyers and Shoemaker will serve as co-creators and co-writers.
The series is listed as being in development. A schedule is not yet available.
At the gala held on Monday night, Prop 8: The Musical, featuring an appearance by Rashida Jones and a bevy of celebrities, was the Webby Award winner for Individual Short or Episode (Comedy).

Thought this would be of interest to Amy Poehler fans, considering she anchored the Weekend Update desk for five of her eight seasons on Saturday Night Live.
The New York Times reports that NBC will announce to advertisers Monday that Weekend Update will be brought to the network’s primetime schedule — most likely on Thursday nights — for at least six to as many as 13 half-hour episodes.
In the weeks leading up to 2008’s Presidential Election, NBC produced several highly rated special editions of Update in primetime. This is the first time, however, that Update specials will be a weekly part of NBC’s schedule.
Like on SNL, Seth Meyers will anchor the desk. Though this doesn’t mean NBC won’t invite former anchors Amy and Tina Fey to guest star.
