Robert Cushman of the National Post says he’s seen the pilot, and that he “likes it.” He makes a case that if Parks and Recreation were British and aired on PBS, people would be going mad for it:
It has the casual air of, say, To the Manor Born: off the wall but not so far off that it collapses in a manic heap on the floor.
Cushman adds he’s a fan of the show’s first cold open:
It had me from the pre-credits sequence which has Poehler as P&R superintendent Leslie Knope (the K is silent, so much so that you have to go to the show’s website to find it exists) intently interrogating a six-year-old on the quality of her sandbox experience: Was it great fun, some fun, or not much fun?
